WELCOME TO 40 DAYS OF POWER WITH PASTOR MENSA OTABIL

Over the years the month of July has served as a Spiritual Emphasis Month for ICGC Churches all.
over the world. It's been a time of consecration, prayer and fasting. It has always been one of the high points of our year, climaxing with our annual Greater Works conference
Sometime last year, I had a strong leading to call God's people in Ghana and all over the world to join in this spiritual encounter. I also felt led to extend the period of fasting and prayer from thirty to forty days. Starting this year, I am honoured to invite you to join me as we stretch our faith and embark on a new experience we call 40 DAYS OF POWER.
From the 21st June to 30th July, 2018 I urge you to spend time fasting every day as we pray for our nation Ghana, the church, our families and for progress in all areas of our individual lives.
This Prayer Guide is carefully prepared to allow us to pray together along the same direction as we join our hearts from various parts of the world in this spiritual experience. Every day has a prayer theme and a guiding scripture. Starting from 5am, a prayer topic is provided for each hour. Different parts of the day focus on different aspects of our lives. Each day ends with a bed time declaration to consolidate the blessings of the day and prepare for the day ahead.
Some helpful tips on effective fasting are included to guide you in observing a healthy and impactful fast.
It is my prayer that this guide will help you to derive the maximum benefit from this period of fasting. I hope that it will help you to build the vital discipline of daily prayer and devotion even beyond the forty-day period.
May God hear and answer your prayers speedily as we embark on this solemn journey of consecration together.

By Dr. Mensa Otabil

Power Of Words 3

Ezekiel 37:1–14

‘Can these bones live?’
  • Can a hopeless condition be repaired?
  • Can a scattered situation be regathered?
‘O Lord, you know’

  • It is within God’s power
God’s answer: Prophesy
  • Speak in the strength of the Spirit
  • Say the same thing God says
  • Speak directly to the situation
  • Speak what has to be and not what is

  • We prophesy in parts, phases and levels

  • Our faith enables us to see heaven’s possibility
  • When faith walks in, sight walks out; when sight walks in, faith walks out

  • Small-minded – places limitations on God: ‘look, you have given me no offspring’

Outside the tent: The heavenly view
Upward-looking – sees outside its limitations: ‘look now toward heaven’
Unrestricted view – sees unlimited possibilities. ‘So shall your descendants be’

We Walk By Faith And Not By Sight 1

John 20:24–29
Believe:
  • To think something to be true
  • To put trust in something
  • To commit yourself  to something

Thomas’ way
“Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
  • Sight: I must see it
  • Experience: I must touch it
  • Faith: Then I will believe it

Jesus’ way
Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
  • Faith: You must believe it
  • Sight: Then you will see it
  • Experience: Then you will touch it

Thomas should have believed…
  • What the scriptures had prophesied about the Messiah
  • What Christ foretold about His resurrection
  • The testimony of those who had seen the risen Christ

2 Corinthians 5:6–8
  • You cannot be  both absent and present in the same place
  • When faith walks in, sight walks out; when sight walks in, faith walks out
  • To walk by faith, our eyes must be fixed on Jesus: Hebrews 12:1–2

I Can Do All Things Through Christ

By Dr. Mensa Otabil

Philippians 4:10–13
Paul’s emphasis
  • Discipline: Power over self
  • Dominion: Power over situations
  • Dependence: Power through Christ

What is ‘all things’?
1 Corinthians 6:12–13; 9:24–25
  • Things that God wants me to become
  • Things that God wants to me to do
  • Things that are helpful for my edification
  • Things that God allows me to go through

Where is this power?
‘through Christ who strengthens us’
  • His Spirit within us
  • His word in our mouth
  • His presence with us
  • His grace our sufficiency

How do we develop this power?
  • We must learn it: ‘I have learnt’
  • We learn by looking at Christ
  • We learn through God’s works in His word
  • We learn by understanding God’s dealings with us
  • We learn by studying life’s principles

We must do it: “I know how to”
abase: to be humble; live with limitations
abound: to be over and above; to live in prosperity
Philippians 4:18–19
  • God is the source of our supply
  • God’s resources are not limited
  • God is able to supply every need
Amen

ICGC 2018 POWER Declaration With Dr. Otabil

The Lord has spoken once
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God

Jehovah is the Creator
of Heaven and Earth
Sustainer of life
Ruler of the universe

By His mighty hand
He has raised me
With His Spirit
He has graced me

Therefore,
I am not ashamed
of the gospel of Christ
It is the power of God
for my salvation
healing
and deliverance

In Christ I have Power

I’m clothed
in the whole armour of God
The word of the Lord
is my sword and shield

The word says
I can do all things through Christ

Therefore,
I boldly declare

I am strong in the Lord
And in the power of His might

By my hand
Signs
Wonders
And Mighty works
Will be done

In Christ Jesus
I walk in more glory;
More power

I am persuaded
that
In this year,
My God
will do exceedingly
abundantly
 above all that I ask
 or think,
according to the power
 that works in me

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Scriptural references for declaration:
Psalm 62:11 (NKJV) — 11 God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) — 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Colossians 1:15–17 (NKJV) — 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Exodus 13:8–9 (NKJV) — 8 And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, ‘This is done because of what the Lord did for me when I came up from Egypt.’ 9 It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt.

1 Corinthians 12:7–11 (NKJV) — 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Romans 1:16–17 (NKJV) — 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Ephesians 6:16–17 (NKJV) — 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) — 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Ephesians 6:10 (NKJV) — 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Acts 19:11 (NKJV) — 11 Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,

Acts 4:29–30 (NKJV) — 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 3:7–11 (NKJV) — 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) — 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Ephesians 3:20–21 (NKJV) — 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
