Exodus 23:14-16

"None shall appear before me empty"
  • The feast of Unleavened bread: Passover (deliverance from bondage)
  • Feast of Harvests: First fruits (giving of the law)
  • Feast of Ingathering: Tabernacles; Atonement (provision in the wilderness)

Deuteronomy 12:5-6

  • Burnt offerings: animals completely burnt
  • Sacrifices: offerings usually shared
  • Tithes: one tenth of produce
  • Heave offerings: openly offered in the hand
  • Vows: fulfilling pledges to God
  • Freewill offerings: offerings not required by law
  • First fruits: the first products of harvest

1. Who owns the tithe?

Exodus 19:3-6, Leviticus 27:30-33
  • The earth belongs to God
  • God's redeemed people belong to Him
  • A tenth of what we produce is our tribute to God- it is God's portion 

2. Where is the tithe paid?
