[January 12] DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS

DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS
Scripture Reading: Genesis 11:27-32
And Tenah took luis son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and duelt thert: - Genesis 11:31
A bram's father, Terah, set out on a pilgrimage from Ur to Canaan.
However, when he got to Haran, he settled there with his family and stayed there till he died. We are not told why he stopped before his original target. Was it exhaustion? Lack of ambition? Loss of focus? Shortage of resources? Or did he simply go for what was convenient?
Terah's journey is representative of that of many of us. We often start out in life with great potential and an intended destination. Along the line, we end up settling for far less than we are capable of. This applies in our faith, character, professional and social lives. The middle of the ladder of achievement is accessible and attractive but the top is where you belong.
Don't settle for the convenient, popular or easy way out. Go all out till you reach the place God intended for you. It is only then that you can live a fulfilled life. Interestingly, years later, when Terah died, God commanded Abram to get out of Haran and to go to Canaan. That marked the beginning of a remarkable journey with God that made Abraham truly great. There is a place that God has earmarked for you. Don't settle for less because of fear, challenges or convenience. Keep going till you hit it. Declare by faith to yourself and to the whole world that "I REFUSE TO SETTLE!!!"

Prayer: Lord, strengthen me to overcome every obstacle and to keep moving until I reach my ultimate destination.
