[March 5] DIVINE ATTENTION

DIVINE ATTENTION
Scripture Reading: Exodus 2:1-25
So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them. - Exodus 2:24-25
Have you ever wondered whether God hears when you pray? Have there been times when you've gone through a long period wondering whether God has forgotten you? Israel went through a season like that. For 430 years, the people who were the apple of God's eye found themselves in bondage in Egypt. Many died as a result of the cruelty meted out to them by the Egyptian slave masters. Israel must have thought that God had forsaken them.
Meanwhile, the man God was raising for their deliverance was going through various stages of preparation. Moses had lived for 40 years in Pharaoh's palace internalising the rudiments of leadership and governance. He had completed another 40 years in Midian caring for sheep and learning about rejection, suffering and isolation. He was finally ready. At the appointed time, the king of Egypt died and Israel cried out to God once again about their suffering. This time, after several years, God heard their cry. God remembered them. God looked upon them and God acknowledged them. That was the first step in the chain of events that led to their ultimate freedom.
The good news is, you are the object of God's attention. He is constantly focused on you. Psalm 34:15 says, "The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry." You may be confronted by a mountain today but as you lift up your voice to the Lord, may He hear you, remember you, look at you and acknowledge you.
Prayer: Lord, I declare that my help is in You. As I lift up my voice to You, may You HEAR, REMEMBER, LOOK AT and ACKNOWLEDGE me.
