ATTRIBUTES OF WINNERS
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 9:19-27
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more. - 1 Corinthians 9:19
In order to achieve the remarkable things God has in store for us, we must first know ourselves. We must also discipline ourselves and pay the legitimate price required. What do all winners have in common?
- Ability to see and know yourself as you really are. You cannot possibly be everything. Know yourself beyond your title, position or assets.
- Ability to ask critical questions at crucial moments. Don't just ask questions. Ask relevant questions that will help you chart the course of the future. Jesus, at 12, proved to be a good questioner.
- Ability to conceptualize and birth new ideas. Winners see what doesn't yet exist and bring it to life.
- Ability to see the challenge and the solution from every angle. Winners model various scenarios and prepare solutions for each of them.
- Ability to distinguish the essential from the important. In the face of limited resources, not everything important is absolutely essential.
- Ability and drive to do better. The winner's incentive should always be excellence and skill development and not just reward.
- Ability to communicate your vision passionately and persuasively. It is essential to be able to articulate your vision with clarity.
- Ability to move forward when everyone is faltering. Keep running when others are giving up. It increases your chances of success.
- Ability to connect with the right people for the right task. Not everybody can do everything for you.
- The willingness to fail and the fortitude to get back up and try again. If you fear to fail you'll never start anything. When you fall, rise up and keep moving forward.
Prayer: Strengthen me, Lord, to overcome every obstacle and pay the required price to accomplish my objectives.
