[January 13] A SPACIOUS AND ESTABLISHED PLACE

A SPACIOUS AND ESTABLISHED PLACE
Scripture Reading: Genesis 26:12-25
And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land". - Genesis 26:22
In his quest for economic prosperity, Isaac went through a phase where every well he sank was the subject of contention with his enemies. And the level of opposition kept progressively increasing. Anyone else without his sense of tenacity would have given up in the face of persistent opposition. However, Isaac persisted. He was aware that the blessing was not in a well or location but in his person. He therefore kept digging until the Philistines finally left him alone to enjoy his blessings. He named that third well “Rehoboth” which connotes “room or space to flourish."
Every journey of progress is characterized by opposition at various levels. Everyone of us experiences our own contentions as we strive to progress professionally, build businesses, grow relationships, build homes or pursue our education. It sometimes seems as if every step we take is fought over or hijacked by opposing forces. Like Isaac, it may seem like the higher we climb, the stronger the opposition that contends with us.
The good news is, a time is coming when you will reach your“Rehoboth.” At that point, you will dig again and somehow your persecutors will leave you alone because you would have climbed too high, run too far or gone too deep. There is a spacious place reserved for your establishment that is beyond the reach of those who have set themselves up as your opposers. Don't stop till you get there.

Prayer: Father, grant me the strength to persist in the face of opposition until I experience your overflowing provision in my life.
