[February 19] AS LONG AS I LIVE, I'LL PRAISE HIM

AS LONG AS I LIVE, I'LL PRAISE HIM

Scripture Reading: Psalm 115:1-18

The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor any who go down into silence. But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and forevermore. Praise the LORD! - Psalms 115:17-18
When you escape death narrowly or see someone so young and bubbly pass on in inexplicable circumstances, it becomes really easy to appreciate the fact that you're alive today. Life is an amazing gift of God. It is not a right we are entitled to. Sometimes, people quote Psalms 90:10 to suggest an automatic guarantee of longevity. "The days of our lives are SEVENTY YEARS; and if by reason of strength they are EIGHTY YEARS, Yet their boast is only labour and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away." We may desire to live to a ripe, full age. The reality, however is that young people die and old people die.
How should we approach life in the light of this reality? Praise God for every waking day knowing that there are others who may not be so privileged. Be conscious of every single blessing you enjoy and refuse to take them for granted. Instead of complaining about the slightest of issues, let us instead praise the Lord with the assurance in our hearts that as long as we are alive, it's not over yet.
The dead cannot praise God. If we are alive today, it is because He has preserved our lives for a greater purpose. Every second or minute of life we enjoy is a product of His continuing grace at work in us. Let us, therefore, thank and praise Him as long as we live.
Prayer: Father, I thank You that no matter what I am going through, You haven't finished with me. And that's enough reason to give thanks and praise to You today.
