BENEFITS OF APPLYING GOD'S WORD

More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. - Psalms 19:10
God's word has several has several qualities that impact our lives in different ways. David describes seven benefits applying God's word brings into our lives.
• Transforms. 'The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul.' God's word is complete and sufficient in itself. Through its power, the human soul is converted from its sinful state unto salvation.
• Instructs. 'The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.' God's word is infallible. It provides critical guidelines that enable the humble or teachable heart to embrace God's wisdom.
• Encourages. 'The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart.' God's word is anchored in righteousness and it brings joy to the heart.
• Civilises. 'The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.' God's word opens our eyes and refines us. It has historically been a key to civilisations.
• Satisfies. 'Sweeter also than the honeycomb.' Applying God's word beautifies our lives. It enriches us in a way that nothing else can.
• Disciplines us. 'Moreover by them Your servant is warned' God's word cautions us when we err. It corrects and trains us in His ways.
• Reward. 'And in keeping them there is great reward.' When we study and obey the word, God fulfils the promises therein and ultimately gives us the greatest reward of eternal life.
Make a lifelong commitment to imbibe God's word and apply it to your life. The principles are timeless and unchanging. Isaiah 40:8 says, "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever."
Prayer: Father, help me to hold fast to the truth of Your word and to always order my life by it.
