OPEN MY EYES
Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law. - Psalms 119:18
One of the most exciting scenes in adventure movies is when people who have been roaming for a long time in search for treasures stumble upon a clue or access way they may have passed several times but which finally leads them to their desired destination. Abraham had been on the verge of sacrificing his son Isaac when God intervened and acknowledged his act of obedience. What happened next was instructive. Genesis 22:13 says Abrahm "lifted up his eyes" and saw a ram caught in the thicket. God had already made a provision and at the right time He opened Abraham's eyes.
God's word is loaded with answers to some of the most pertinent questions of our lives. It speaks to the issues of family, education, business, health, economics, leadership, finance and entertainment, among others. It is possible to read the scriptures several times and fail to grasp their key lessons. The Ethiopian eunuch who had been reading the scriptures said to Philip in Acts 8:31, "How can I understand unless someone guides me?" That is the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life.
Your eyes must be enlightened by the Holy Spirit to be able to perceive and appreciate the depths of solutions the scriptures profess. Every secret remains hidden until you 'see' it. It then becomes a 'revelation.'
