DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10
The Bible tells us that we must all appear before the Judgment seat of Christ. This word “appear” can be translated, “to make manifest.” This suggests that the purpose of the Judgment seat of Christ is a public manifestation, or demonstration, of the essential characters and motives of an individual.
This judgment is not about whether we will get to heaven, because it takes place in heaven. Rather, it is about the rewards believers will receive. Jesus said, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work" (Revelation 22:12). God has a reward for those who have faithfully served Him.
What will be judged, according to 2 Corinthians 5:10, is what we have done, whether good or bad. The word used for “bad" in this verse is not speaking of something ethically or morally evil, because Christ paid the price for our sins at the cross of Calvary.
Rather, the word used for “bad” speaks of evil of another kind. Another way to translate it would be “good-for-nothingness," or "worthlessness.” The idea of good or bad is not of someone who has done something outwardly and blatantly wrong. The idea is of someone who wasted his or her life, a life that was good for nothing. It is someone who has thrown away his or her time, energy, and life in general.
What are you doing with your life for Christ's sake? I know what He has done for you. What are you doing for Him? Are you wasting your life on nothingness?
Prayer: Ask God to deliver you from wasteful living and make you alert and committed towards your divine assignment in Christ.
