TRUST IN THE LORD
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
Trusting God is both a humbling and powerful concept. It is humbling because it reminds us that although we have great human capabilities, there are limits to our greatest strengths and effort. In this age of the celebration of unprecedented human achievements, it deflates our ego to accept defeat. So even when we realize we are incapable, we still force ourselves to heave against our struggles with all our strength.
The Lord wants us to lean on Him with absolute trust.
Trust begins in the heart and requires our surrender. It is a deep realization within the very core of our beings that God is sovereign in our lives. It settles the issue of 'who is boss' over our lives; either we choose to govern our own lives or we yield to Christ as Lord and King over our lives.
In addition to trusting Him in our innermost being, we are encouraged to also trust Him with our intellect and mind. That can be a challenge in this day and age when the human intellect has become our modern-day god. As great as it is to have a good education and an enlightened mind to help us grapple with life's many challenges, the Lord wants us to yield our understanding to Him. We are also to yield our plans to Him. To do that, we have to:
- Accept the limitations of our human efforts and understanding
- Acknowledging god's infinite wisdom
- Ask the Lord to guide us in our decision-making
- Allow the peace of God to fill our hearts
Prayer: Commit your ways to the Lord and receive divine direction and peace for every step you take.
