[March 6] IT’S NOT OVER

IT’S NOT OVER
Scripture Reading: Mark 5:21-24; 35-43
Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” - Mark 5:41
The miracle of Jairus’ daughter has important lessons about trusting God for answered prayer. The key players are Jairus who makes the request, his daughter who actually needs the miracle, the neighbors who only see limitations, the mourners who have given up, the multitudes that follow for a while and the disciples who follow Jesus to the end.
Here are seven lessons from Jesus:
1. Jesus responded immediately to their unbelief. In verse 36, we learn not to allow the voice of defeat and unbelief to cripple us. Jesus shut out those who said the girl was dead.
2. Jesus pulled away from the crowd. Verse 37 says “he permitted no one...” There are journeys in life you can’t travel with others.
3. Jesus maintained a good confession. In verse 39, he insisted that “the child is not dead but sleeping.” Your description of a problem is a prophecy. Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 that we are “hard- pressed on every side, yet not crushed.” That is the spirit of faith.
4. Jesus put aside the mockers. Protect your heart from the voice of mockery and disappointment.
5. Jesus confronted the situation. “He entered where the child was lying...” Determine to confront every challenge facing you.
6. Jesus spoke boldly in faith. He commanded life to return to the dead girl. He disappointed the expectations of the mourners and mockers.
7. Jesus helped them to maintain the miracle. “Feed the girl...” You need wisdom to sustain every miracle God gives you.
Between the time of your prayer and your answer, your faith will be tested by time, temptation or persecution, but don’t give up. God is at work.
Prayer: Lord, grant me the strength to hold on to my confession until I see the full manifestation of that which I desire.
