[March 3] A PROBLEM-SOLVING SPIRIT

A PROBLEM-SOLVING SPIRIT
Scripture Reading: Genesis 41:53-57
So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do." - Genesis 41:55
When the wedding feast in Cana threatened to develop into a crisis with the shortage of wine, Jesus' mother said to the servants in John 2:5, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Years earlier, at a point when global food security was threatened, Pharaoh had used the same words to refer to Joseph. Joseph had burst unto the scene with the interpretation of a dream and gave so much more value that Pharaoh gave him absolute power over all Egpyt. For all of us who crave for similar promotions to positions of trust, here are ten generic lessons from the chapters of Joseph's life:
  • Potential. His childhood dreams predicted a great future.
  • Adversity. He suffered years of pain and disappointment.
  • Preparation. Instead of being bitter, he spent time developing his gift.
  • Opportunity. Pharaoh's problem gave him his big break.
  • Presentation. When summoned, he bathed and packaged himself.
  • Solutions. He gave Pharaoh a diagnosis as well as a prescription.
  • Promotion. He was lifted to a high office and given diverse rewards.
  • Execution. He executed his proposed plan to perfection
  • Success. Egypt enjoyed food security because of Joseph's plan.
  • Legacy. Joseph preserved nations from famine by his actions.

May this ten-point blueprint provide a doorway to a meaningful and impactful life for you. Commit to being a problem solver and see God lift you all the way to the top.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be a problem solver in everything I do.
