TOO BIG A DREAM TO BE IGNORED
Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. Then they said to one another, "Look, this dreamer is coming!" - Genesis 37:18-19
Dreams are powerful. The greatest inventions, biggest projects and the most significant human achievements are all products of someone's dream. Some dreams are local and limited in scope. Others are massive, all encompassing or even global in nature. Such big dreams can define our entire lives and even the destiny of a whole nation or generation. A compelling dream precedes and announces us wherever we go. People call us by our dream and it becomes the defining element of our lives.
Joseph had a dream which was too big to be ignored. He obviously was going to become the most prominent member of his family. Clearly, sharing the dream caused a lot of discomfort in the home. Everyone, from his parents to his siblings, took immediate note of the implications. The brothers could not pretend they hadn't heard or did not understand. The dream demanded a purpose.
They had two options: either to embrace his dream and encourage him to pursue it or to mock it, hate him and fight it. They chose the latter and even went further to plot against him to kill him. Their actions, though ill-intened, became the trigger for a convoluted journey that eventually led to the full manifestation of Joseph's dream. Every big dream you have will attract a big response, but if your dream came from God, be assured that He is able to preserve you until it comes to pass. Declare that God will keep you!!!
Prayer: Father, preserve the dream you've placed in my heart and let it be a blessing to humanity.
