[February 8] HE IS YOUR HELPER

HE IS YOUR HELPER
He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat Him with princes - With the princes of His people - Psalms 113:7-8

The worship song, "When I remember what the Lord has done," made popular by South African songstress, Ntokozo Mbambo, became a global hit because many people could relate to the lyrics about how far God had brought them. Whenever I take stock of my own life, about where God picked me from, challenges of my early years, my limitations and shortcomings and I consider how far He has brought me, I am absolutely humbled by what the Lord has done.
And that is not the story of my life alone. It is probably also your story and that of many of us. If we paused to count our blessings and name them one by one, it would surprise us how far God has brought us from where we began. We serve a God who specialises in total transformation. The Psalmist called Him a lifter. He lifts the poor and needy from the ash heaps and makes them sit with princes. Like Joseph, God is able to lift you up from a place of desolation to an elevated place.
You may be confronted with a financial, emotional, social or professional challenge or setback today. Whatever it is, be assured that God has not finished with you yet. Your life is a work in progress. It is a story being written. On the authority of the Scriptures, be assured that the next chapters of your life will be more meaningful. Your future will have absolutely no semblance to your past.
Prayer: Lord, lift me up to where I belong. Turn every disadvantage around and use it as a channel for my promotion.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 113:1-9
