A VERY PRESENT HELP
Scripture Reading: Psalms 46:1-5
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
It is amazing how our perspective of a situation totally changes when we know what protection or covering we have. Have you ever wondered how people can sit in a giant airplane and even eat, chat or sleep while flying over 30,000 feet high for hours across the vast oceans? Why don't they panic and keep looking below them? It is because they have confidence in a pilot's ability to get them to their intended destination.
If you ever visited an aquatic centre, you would see families with children admiring and even taking pictures of diverse sea creatures, including sharks swimming close to them. They will wave at the shark and even cheer when it swims close by and they see its ferocious teeth. Their assurance of safety is that the protective glass case that separates them from the creatures will never break. Should they find themselves with the same shark in a different context or environment, the reaction would be very different.
God is our refuge and assurance of safety. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." God is our very present help in the face of every trouble that confronts us. Even when the situation seems dire and threatens to overwhelm us, we must be assured that the "glass" of His protection shall not break and we shall remain safe. That is His word to us today.
Prayer: Lord, keep me under the shadow of Your wings and cause me to dwell in safety.
