COMMITMENT
"But Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."John 6:68-69
The ability to stand by your principles, live with integrity and faith according to your belief is key to success. The devotion to principle, ability to stand by one's convictions even in times of uncertainties are the mark of champions.
When everyone has given up, will you be still standing? When the only thing you have in hand is the promise of the Lord, will you follow Him with all your heart?
Lay down your life for Him? Many times in Scripture, the faith and commitment were intensely challenged and tested. In afflictions and adversities. in persecutions and trials; in persecutions and nakedness, their faith was tested, and they came out refined as pure gold. The response of Peter “Thou hast the words of eternal life,” implies the disciples had a firm conviction that Jesus is their only hope of salvation. Even if the whole world forsake Him, they would stick to Him to the very end. “Lord, to whom shall we go?":
- Is the language of faith, and expresses the desire and conviction of every soul that flees to the Saviour for refuge.
- Is a confession of loyalty to Jesus alone; like Shadrach, Meshachand Abed-Nego they pledged allegiance to God alone in the face of the fury and fire of the king.
- Is a confession of total devotion to Christ alone as the giver of eternal life.
- Is a confession of obedience of Jesus Christ and His word. You have to decide to choose the path of strict obedience commit to the Lord no matter the cost. Those who put their trust in Him will never be put to shame.
Prayer: Thank you Father for the privilege of knowing Jesus Christ my Lord. Help me commit to His Lordship all the days of my life.
