FRESH GARMENTS
But Samuel ministered before the LORD, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. 1 Samuel 2:18
When the Prophet Samuel was a young boy serving under Eli the temple, his mother visited him once a year. Anytime she visited Samuel, she made it a point to give him new clothes. She was aware that the clothes Samuel wore the year before would have grown smaller on him or gotten worn out. Every New Year was a season of new clothes for Samuel.
Just as Samuel's mother made new clothes for him each New Year, your Heavenly Father also has new clothes for you every New Year. Samuel's mother changed her son's natural clothes but your Heavenly Father wants to change your spiritual clothes. He wants to expand your vision, increase your faith and fill you with the power of the Holy Spirit.
This year, God wants you to wear clothes that are bigger, better and greater than the ones you wore last year. If last year was a good year for you, God want this year to be a better year for you. If last year was a year of success for you, God wants you to have greater success this year. He wants you to do things you have never done before. He wants you to accomplish things beyond your wildest imagination.
The Lord wants to stretch your spiritual muscles so that you can reach out for higher and better things. You cannot do that while holding on to your past failures and successes. Put off your old garments and put on the new, for this is your year of power,
Prayer: I'm ready, Lord, put a new garment on me this year and show me more of Your glory.
