Christ Our High Priest (Sunday Service)

Christ Our High Priest

Hebrews 3:1
Confession- what we believe as Christians
Christ is our high priest, not unto himself, but unto us!

The high priest:
* Originated in the Old Testament
* Established as part of the old covenant
* Seniormost person in the tabernacle
* First high priest was Aaron - every other was from the tribe of Levi but the house of

The role of the high priest
1. Makes sacrifices for the people - biggest sacrifice on the day of atonement.
2. Represents the people before God - goes into God's presence alone, but carrying them into the presence (Exodus 28:29).
3. Releases God's blessing unto the people - after taking the requests of the people unto God, returns with God's glory  (Leviticus 9:22-23, Numbers 6:22-26).
4. Was a shadow of things to come - as a representation of the true high priest, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ as Our High Priest
Hebrews 9:11
- The high priest of good things to come.
- He is a greater high priest and offers a more perfect sacrifice.

What Did Jesus Do?
1. He also entered the most holy place - only once, and for all, in the heavenly tabernacle.
2. He entered with his own blood - his blood was higher than the value of man.
3. He obtained eternal redemption - salvation in Christ is once and forever.

Hebrews 8:1-2
- We are with Christ in authority.

Hebrews 10:11
- Jesus has already finished the assignment and there's nothing more for him to do, he has sat down.
- We are seated with Christ-our redemption is already complete.
- There is a battle to be fought to actualise Christ's work, but it requires our watching and waiting as He subdues everything under our feet (our total victory).

May we walk in the authority even as Christ subdues everything under our feet as our High Priest!

AMEN!!!
