[February 4] TOTAL OBEDIENCE

TOTAL OBEDIENCE
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:5-22
Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did - Genesis 6:22
The key to God's approval is total obedience. Genesis 6 details God's disappointment as a result of man's wickedness and the evil in his heart. God therefore decided to destroy both man and beast from the surface of the earth. Noah however found grace in God's sight. He was therefore to build an ark of gopher wood which would serve as a home to himself, his family and some animals. The project must have taken several years but Noah was commended for observing the details of God's instructions and meticulously following them to completion.
Obedience is “compliance with an order, request or law.” Itis“ submission to a higher authority.” However, it is not enough to obey on your terms or selectively determine which directive from God is acceptable to you. Partial or selective obedience is comparable to total disobedience. When Saul partially obeyed God in the battle of Amalek, Samuel reminded him in 1 Samuel 15:22-23 that obedience was far better than any form of sacrifice. He then described rebellion as being like witchcraft and stubbornness like idolatry.
God is looking for people who are totally yielded to Him and committed to obedience. Who would you rather have in your team: someone who talks big, promises so many things and does the exact opposite, or someone who quietly and effectively delivers on their promise? Noah was approved by God for totally obeying all that God had said. It is no wonder, therefore, that Noah found grace in the sight of God. What are the biggest barriers to your total obedience to God? As you submit to God, may His favour be your portion, in Jesus name!

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to fully obey and surrender to you.
